BIMI looks like broccoli with a
long slender stem, but has a milder, sweeter taste more like asparagus.
It was created using normal horticultural breeding techniques, and
is not genetically modified.
BIMI was traditionally bred by crossing broccoli
and Chinese Kale. It is a long slim, elegant-looking vegetable,
rich green in colour - even when cooked.
It has been described as a “Super Food” due to
its high levels of glucosinolates and other essential nutrients.
It is 100% eatable - from the tip of the florets
to the end of the tender stem. It has a milder, sweeter taste than
traditional broccoli with a slight pepperiness.
There is year round supply - mostly from Africa. |
